No, You’re Not Seeing Double: This $3M Residence Has 2 Domes
Jul 30, 2021
Fresh off a seller’s thoughtful and extensive restoration, a geodesic home in Eden Prairie, MN, is helping to—pardon the pun—round out the market.
Built in 1977, the double-dome home has had three owners over the decades. Set on nearly 2 acres, the 8,050-square-foot pad has six bedrooms and five bathrooms, at the end of a long, private drive.
The current owners completed a full-on renovation in 2017, and turned the curvaceous masterpiece into a popular Airbnb.
“They pretty much took it down to the studs,” says the listing agent, Jason Zoellner of Edina Realty. “Everything was fully remodeled, from top to bottom.”
After purchasing this cool home for $450,000 in 2013 and giving it a full face-lift, the owners have priced it at $3 million to reflect their updates.
Inside, a three-sided fireplace in the living room keeps things coy and contemporary—along with a floating spiral staircase—while the kitchen’s open layout is stocked with modern, high-end appliances.
The home’s American Clay, natural-earth plaster walls “have the same texture as adobe,” says Zoellner.

A number of whimsical touches were also added. You’ll see a putting green, a craft room, a room dedicated to pingpong, an exercise room, a home theater (accessible through a hidden door), and a slide that whisks guests into the backyard. Thanks to a second slide, no one has to fight amid the frolicking.
For a family with young children—or adults who are kids at heart—ladders connect each bedroom at the loft level, at the top of the dome.
Astronomy geeks will swoon over the views from the master bedroom, where you can see the stars while in bed.
In fact, all bedrooms have windows on the roof, bringing the outdoors even closer in. Working from home won’t feel like drudgery, thanks to an office area with a desk overlooking the main level.

Beyond the fun interiors, the home’s outdoor space also serves as a relaxing getaway.
“The second owners were in the landscaping business,” says Zoellner, “and put in boulders with waterfalls spilling down, and a pond and stream.”
Other beautifications include a walkway with hanging flowers, ferns, and strings of overhead lights throughout.
A three-car garage is also included with the listing.
There’s also a truly adventurous perk: a zip line so you can easily jet around (and above) the property.
Zoellner thinks the next owner may be someone with close ties to the Land of 10,000 Lakes.
“For this house, just because it’s so unique, I think it could be somebody who grew up in Minnesota and wants to get back,” he says. “I can see this as a family compound to use when they’re in town.”
